Every traveler believed there would be many great moments that defined a life.
The Luminarks knew there was only one.
They called it The Crossing.
It was not marked on any map, nor could it be found by following another’s footsteps. It arrived quietly, hidden inside an ordinary day, disguised as a difficult decision, an unexpected loss, a chance encounter, or a question that refused to leave the heart.
Most people never recognized it.
They chose comfort over curiosity.
Certainty over possibility.
The familiar road over the unknown horizon.
And so they continued walking, unaware they had passed within a single breath of the life they were meant to live.
When my Crossing came, there were no voices from the heavens and no signs written across the sky. There was only silence.
One path carried everything I had built. The other offered nothing except the invitation to trust what I could not yet see.
The Construct whispered that safety was wisdom.
The spirit answered with something quieter.
Keep walking.
As I stepped across the unseen threshold, nothing around me appeared to change. The world remained familiar. The same trees swayed in the wind. The same stars waited for night.
Yet everything had changed.
The Crossing had never been a place between two roads.
It was the distance between who I believed myself to be and who I had always been.
The courage to take one step transformed every step that followed.
The Luminarks do not measure a life by how far someone travels.
They measure it by whether they recognized their Crossing when it finally appeared, and whether they found the faith to move forward before the path revealed where it would lead.
