The elders taught that every river eventually reaches the sea.
The Luminarks smiled, for they knew the sea was never the destination.
It was the remembrance.
Long before mountains rose from the earth or stars scattered across the heavens, the Infinite released streams of living light into existence. They did not flow through water or stone. They flowed through every thought, every choice, every act of compassion, and every soul willing to move beyond itself.
Most could not see them.
They hurried through life believing they traveled alone, never realizing they were being gently carried by currents older than time itself.
I spent years fighting the flow.
Whenever life turned unexpectedly, I resisted. I mistook surrender for weakness and believed control was the highest form of wisdom. Every bend in the river felt like an obstacle placed in my path.
Then one day I stopped pushing against the current.
The silence that followed was unlike anything I had ever known.
I discovered the river had never been trying to take something from me.
It had been trying to return me to myself.
The currents that crossed my life were not accidents. Every meeting, every loss, every unexpected joy, every season of waiting had been tributaries joining a greater stream. Nothing had been wasted. Even the darkest waters carried light beneath their surface.
The Infinite does not command the river.
It breathes through it.
The Luminarks do not measure wisdom by how forcefully one rows against the current. They honor those who learn to listen, to trust the unseen movement beneath the surface, and to flow with grace toward a destination that has always been flowing toward them.
For in the Rivers of the Infinite, every soul is both traveler and water, forever returning to the Source from which it first began.
